It is CondeHouse craftsmanship that realizes this complicated grid consisting of so many wood pieces. The wood grid looks more like woven threads and more beautiful by setting wood pieces with straight grain up. By the combination of many different wood pieces, the top board surface shows various faces according to viewing angles. When light enters, the grid makes beautiful shadows on the floor. A top board and legs are joined by three way miter joints, where craftsmanship is well shown.

Minoru Nagahara

Minoru Nagahara was born in Hokkaido, Japan in 1935. He entered Kumasaka Kogei, a furniture company in 1951. In 1963, he went to West Germany as a technical trainee. After returning to Asahikawa in 1965, he worked for Asahikawa Industrial Arts Institute. In 1968, he established Interior Center Co., Ltd. (present Conde House). He is now the company’s chairman of the board of directors. He received of numerous awards: the Japan Interior Designers’ Association Award, the Kitaro Kunni Industrial Design Award, the Hokkaido Industrial Contribution Award, and the Hokkaido Shimbun Cultural Award.
