Architect Per Holland Bastrup

Born in 1949, Danish designer Per Holland Bastrup graduated as a brick layer, building designers, and architect from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1983, going on to form his own studio. The furniture by Per Holland Bastrup, stand as experimental icons that have been created but still functional sculptures. As a furniture designer, he is driven by refinement. He explores statics, stability, and the uses of materials. He merges geometric shapes, boils them all the way down so you can't subtract or add without the expression becoming anemic. He lives up to the expression "less is more".
