The Thistle was the original inspiration behind this service when it was created for the Nancy exhibition in 1908 at the height of the Art Nouveau movement. Later, “Entente cordiale oblige”, Chardon (“Thistle”) was anglicised, becoming Thistle, and sparkled nobly on the greatest tables.
