The Spoke-Back Sofa is a classic Børge Mogensen design, first presented in 1945 as a proposal for the ‘furniture type of the future’. The sofa combines chaise lounge and conversation sofa in one piece of furniture that is practical and expressive at the same time. The light construction in solid wood with removable cushions means that the sofa can always be renewed as needed.

Sofa with frame in solid wood. Seat supported by jute webbing. Interchangeable seat and back cushions in solid HR foam, covered in fabric or leather and finished with buttons. Chaise longue angle adjusted and supported with interchangeable leather straps. When covered in fabric the seat cushion is reversible. Leather seat cushion has hessian backing.

Børge Mogensen

Børge Mogensen was born in 1914, completed cabinetmaker training in 1934, followed by studies in furniture design. He worked in the studios and began his design studio in 1950. His design included simple and functional, with calm aesthetics and strong construction from quality materials. He believed in visual clarity and minimal decoration or experimentation. His classic ones are Hunting Table and Deck Chair Set. Mogensen also taught and participated in exhibitions and competitions. He was awarded numerous prizes for his designs.
