Charles Pollock
Charles Pollock (1930-2013), was an industrial designer who created most notably an office chair known as a Pollock Chair, that was introduced in 1963 and still in production. He graduated from Pratt Institute and worked with George Nelson. He was the recipient of the IBD Bronze Medal Award, the Dutch Institution for Industrial Design and Pratt Institute’s Excellence by Design Award. His work is exhibited in museums around the world. Pollock died in a house fire in Queens, New York on August 20, 2013 at the age of 83. At the time of his death he was still at work on designs for new chairs.Learn more about
