In 1966, the Platner Collection captured the “decorative, gentle, graceful” shapes that were beginning to infiltrate the modern vocabulary. The iconic stool is created by welding curved steel rods to circular frames, simultaneously serving as structure and ornament.

Warren Platner

Warren Platner

Warren Platner (1919-2006) was an American architect and interior designer. He studied at Cornell University, graduating in 1941 with a degree in architecture. It was his furniture collection for Knoll, however, that earned Platner worldwide renown. The Platner Collection is an icon of modern furniture. Knoll also introduced an executive private office collection designed by Platner. Platner outlined the definition of a ‘classic’ as being, something that every time you look at it, you accept it as it is and you see no way of improving it.
