The design of these shelves are inspired by the fireworks installation created by Cai Guo-Qiang. The gently curved ends of the shelf legs are reminiscent of a rope ladder, suspended from a hot air balloon. The result is both poetic and structural. Gabriel Tan

Gabriel Tan

Gabriel Tan, a Singapore and New York based designer born 1982, established his own Gabriel Tan Studio, a design practice working at cultural intersections. Constantly exploring new ways to work across disciplines, reinterpret tradition, craft or technology. The works of Gabriel Tan Studio have been exhibited all over the world. In addition to collaborating with brands like Menu and Wallpaper*, Tan has also worked as a creative director for Turn Handles, Origin and Ariake, and spoken as a guest lecturer at several institutions.
