Born from a desire to create the ultimate sofa, Børge Mogensen designed the first 2212 Sofa for his own home in 1962. Today, the sofa is probably the most iconic sofa in mid-century Danish design, found in embassies, corporate headquarters, private residences, galleries and museums around the globe. At Fredericia, we are committed to keeping the legacy of this cherished design alive at our workshop, where every piece is made using only the finest materials and expert craftsmanship.

Fully upholstered sofa with piping in all stitches. Available in leather or fabric. Fixed legs of solid wood, built into the wood internal frame. Seat is supported with jute and rubber band webbing. Separate seat, back and arm cushions with removable covers. Please specify cushion type. Cushions are either with foam core with down wrap or filled with a foam and down mix in sepearte chambers.

Børge Mogensen

Børge Mogensen

Børge Mogensen was born in 1914, completed cabinetmaker training in 1934, followed by studies in furniture design. He worked in the studios and began his design studio in 1950. His design included simple and functional, with calm aesthetics and strong construction from quality materials. He believed in visual clarity and minimal decoration or experimentation. His classic ones are Hunting Table and Deck Chair Set. Mogensen also taught and participated in exhibitions and competitions. He was awarded numerous prizes for his designs.
