Moderne Platform Bed (Tufted) | Highlight image 1
The platform bed is one of the most architectural but overlooked furniture forms. Of course, Thomas Pheasant sees things differently. There really isn't any reason it can't be appropriately restrained but still luxurious. With the Moderne Bed, he looked to architecture itself for a means of elevating the look to something more dignified. The addition of a stepped cove molding makes a difference. A short but simple leg makes for adequate ventilation. And, yes, a decorative brass heel makes it elegant. This version has the diamond tufted look. While more vintage or glamorous than its untufted counterpart (8627K), it is still low and edited. The result is more reminiscent of 1940s Hollywood Modern. There is refinement and comfort, but the look depends on the fabric selection. That allows the bed to be tightly integrated into the color scheme.
