The Kangaroo Chair is a low chair comprising two parallel flowing Z shaped assemblies that form the leg and back frame. The back of the chair is gently bowed to provide seating comfort. Our re-edition of the Kangaroo Chair is true to the proportions and dimensions of the chairs made for Chandigarh, but reinforced with stronger joineries. The natural rattan cane is peeled and woven meticulously by hand.

Seat Height: 34.5 cm

Materials:
Burma Teak (Tectona grandis)
Natural Cane

We offer this product in Natural Teak or Dark Stain finish. For the Natural Teak, we do not stain the wood; the wood is sanded to smoothness and transparent wood polish and sealer are applied to bring out the natural golden brown colour of teak. For the Dark Stain, a coat of teak stain is applied to give the wood a darker shade. Please note, each batch of teak is unique and actual shade may vary a little from the reference images.

Chandigarh Collective

Chandigarh Collective

Chandigarh Collective refers to the architects, designers, model makers and craftspeople who contributed to the design and prototyping of furniture for the city of Chandigarh in the 1950s. A Design Office was set up under the leadership of Pierre Jeanneret with a team of young Indian designers and architects assisting him to creating a range of furniture. The designs and variants of these designs have been produced from the 1950s to the present day anywhere in the world.
