Our Armless Dining Chair is a contemporary re-edition of chairs first made for student hostel rooms of the Punjab University in Chandigarh. The chairs have ‘V’ type flared triangular legs supported by two flat crossbars. Cut grooves at the back of the chair hide the exposed weaving knots partially. The natural rattan cane is peeled and woven meticulously by hand.

Seat Height: 45 cm

Materials:
Burma Teak (Tectona grandis)
Natural Cane

We offer this product in a choice of Natural Teak, Dark Stain or Black Finish. For Natural Teak finish, the wood is sanded to smoothness and transparent wood polish and sealer are applied with a soft cloth to bring out the natural golden brown colour of teak. For Dark Stain, a coat of teak stain is hand applied to give the wood a darker, deeper shade. For Black Finish, the wood is sprayed with an eco friendly water based paint that leaves the grains and patterns visible.

Chandigarh Collective

Chandigarh Collective refers to the architects, designers, model makers and craftspeople who contributed to the design and prototyping of furniture for the city of Chandigarh in the 1950s. A Design Office was set up under the leadership of Pierre Jeanneret with a team of young Indian designers and architects assisting him to creating a range of furniture. The designs and variants of these designs have been produced from the 1950s to the present day anywhere in the world.
