Louis Poulsen

Founded in 1874, Danish brand Louis Poulsen is known for its architectural lighting, which includes an iconic series of lamps designed by Poul Henningsen in the 1920s. Henningsen, who was obsessed with the architectural qualities of light as well as its physical and mental effects, wished to create a suitable electrical alternative to candlelight. The result was the PH-lamp series, which uses concentric shades to create diffuse, flattering light. The series is still in production today, alongside Henningsen’s other timeless products such as the “Artichoke” and contemporary designs informed by his principles.
